Hi This is Shawn Latham an old CWAC member now living in Puyallup. I just thought I would give everyone an update. The last year has flown on by. I was appointed to the State DD Council in September and we are currently finishing up our new state plan for the next five years. It looks like we will be focusing on employment, housing and community supports. I'm also pushing Self Advocates in Leadership out of Sea Tac to become more vocal when it comes to transportation. I have found that this is a huge issue even when communities do have public buses. I'm hoping someday a statewide solution could fix this problem. I have also joined a group at our Center over here (The Center for Independence) called Out and About. The group gets people out of the homes and into the community by doing social activities. Its really cool! Lastly I've been writing for the Center in their newsletter. I sure do miss being apart of CWAC and I'm hoping someday I can pop in at one of your meetings. Take care Shawn
